Corinthian Yacht Club extends best wishes to all Columbia River sailors for the 2004 season. Here’s to a safe, successful and enjoyable season of racing!

CYC works to support racing and cruising activity on the Columbia River and contiguous offshore waters. As an informal club particularly committed to advancing the racing and sailing skills of its members, CYC’s special interest is supporting offshore and long-distance racing events and providing information about them to the Portland/Vancouver sailing community.

Inshore Racing: In 2004, CYC will host a Columbia River racing series in the summer and fall. CYC will also host a race for couples only, a "Beer can" race or two, and will provide race management for the OWSA Women’s Race.

Offshore Racing: In 2004, as it has for many years, CYC will host the Oregon Offshore race. This challenging 195-mile race up the Washington coast and down the Straits of Juan de Fuca to Victoria, BC is a unique offshore racing opportunity for Northwest sailors and a real test of sailing skill. CYC also supports the "Offshore In Reverse" – the always-entertaining YBYC Bridge-to-Bridge race from Astoria to Newport.

Education: As in past years, CYC will work to bring notable speakers and workshops to the Portland area, addressing aspects of performance sailing and providing an opportunity for local sailors to improve their skills. We will also work to support race committee training in the Portland area, and to provide opportunities for beginning racers and sailors to learn about our sport.

To make racing just a tiny bit more affordable; fees for CYC-sponsored races (with the exception of the Oregon Offshore) are waived for club members. Membership is open to all, associate memberships are also available. If you would like to learn more about CYC, please contact any of our officers or members.
