Live from the jungles of Mexico, the adventures of Bill

Update: September 27, 2004

The September-October rainy season is definately here along with many mosquitos. The hurricanes have avoided the Cancun area as usual, with the exception of Ivan which came close enough to give us dark clouds and a bit of extra rain. Just as in Oregon, the rain here is great for the green things. Because of the dirt/mud roads I use in the jungle and the north part of town, my truck now looks like the loser of a mud fight. Friends who recruit it for moving aren't complaining though.

It look like the rapid Playa del Carmen growth rate has paid off. The recent Mexican Independence holiday brought along a great fireworks display to the festivities in the central plaza. It's not a sleepy fishing village anymore.

My accountant says that my corporation requirements will be complete this week. I can now request a change in my visa status from "retired" to "working" so I don't get busted for competing with the locals for jobs. We'll see how long that takes. This means that I will be able to advertise and seriously promote my solar energy business and continue to feed the local economy.

My new house Casa Guadalupe is nearing completion this week. When it is ready I will post more photos so you can take the tour. My contractor's truck died a few weeks ago so I have been the troop transporter for his workers every day, an especially good learning experience.

My health meter is still at the lower-middle point. I've re-gained about eight pounds this month, previously lost to a mystery bacteria. If the trend continues, I will be back up to the bottom of the normal range in another month. I feel great, and all is well in paradise.
